The provision of health service funding for this project followed extensive research showing that a lively community sector has a very positive impact on public health. Most people in Northern Ireland are involved in at least one voluntary activity, and for many people this helps to combat isolation and loneliness, builds confidence and keeps people active and happy.
ACVG, at the request of Armagh and Dungannon Local Health and Social Care Group, have compiled a directory of the entire local voluntary sector, to make it easier for groups to work together and for individuals to get involved in community life. The directory will give basic contact information and a brief description of each group's activities. The directory will be widely distributed and will be supported by a website, which will be regularly updated. Entries in the directory and the website will be free of charge, and will give only those details that the group wishes to provide.
Contact Des on (028) 3752 2282 or email info@acvg.org for further information. Any corrections or updates can be e-mailed to info@acvg.org
The directory can be "browsed" or searched for specific criteria.
