Other Information:

Armagh Young at Heart was established in 1988 by a small group of older people from the area and at it’s peak had over 50 members.  They meet every Thursday morning in the Orchard Leisure Centre Armagh and now have a regular attendance of 16-18 members.  The club provides a social and fun outlet to people in the local community, to many who are isolated, have few family members nearby and members who live in rural areas. They enjoy having a place to mix, talk, share activities and life experiences, have relevant speakers and on a lighter side play bingo and have raffles.

The club hosts and visits other groups and has strong cross community links. People have built up friendships, and although some members are now ill, they have been able to set up hospital and home visits with the support from its membership.  These visits are very beneficial to the sick members, and keep them informed of club’s activities and helps to break down further isolation.

Club members are very dynamic and they are all volunteers.  Volunteering has a very positive effect on the physical and mental well being of all its members.
