Information:
Ballymore Open Centre – Community and Youth Development [BOC] – was formed in 1991 with 5 young people and 2 volunteers wishing to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. From these humble beginnings in the living room of the volunteers home and in response to meeting the ever increasing needs and demands of the local and neighbouring communities.
Particular features of this demand have forced BOC to relocate premises on three occasions. Firstly to Ballymore Parish Church and from 1997-2003 it has been operational from the Youth Office at Tandragee Recreation Centre. This expansion enabled BOC to develop new personal, social programmes to meet the needs of not only young people from local and neighbouring areas, but also to initiate a broad range of training and development programmes for others in the wider community.
Currently the BOC works with in excess of 100 people per week from a wide range of ages. Supported by a staff of 1 Project Development Officer, a part-time Administration Worker and a team of 6 volunteers
