Other Information:

The Arts & Disability Forum exists to facilitate the empowerment of disabled people through the development of Arts and Disability culture.  It also promotes equal access to mainstream arts for disabled people, as both consumers and participants, and campaigns for better opportunities in arts education, training and employment.

The Forum, as a networking and coordinating agency, will showcase the best examples of disability arts practice, regionally, nationally and internationally.

It will work with relevant organisations, to network and to encourage them to facilitate arts activities in rural communities and other areas where disabled people are currently marginalised.

The Forum is:

  • A campaigning and consultative body which seeks to correct the under-representation of disabled people in the arts sector
  • An agency seeking the elimination of physical, social and environmental barriers to participation in the arts
  • A networking, development and coordinating body
  • A body which channels resources to facilitate the participation of disabled people in the arts

The Arts & Disability Forum invites all who are working in the field of Arts & Disability, as well as people who are interested in this work, both disabled and non-disabled, to support and benefit from the Forum by joining our membership.  Let's challenge archaic views and contribute to the creation of more positive and imaginative attitudes towards disabled people!

Definition of a disabled person: A person who has a condition caused by physical, mental or sensory impairment, which results in loss or limitation of opportunities to take part in the community on an equal level with others, due to physical and social barriers.
