Armagh Child Contact Centre operates on the first three Saturday mornings of every month from 10am to 12noon. A co-ordinator has been appointed, and a bank of 26 volunteers have been PECs checked (POC) and undergone Child Protection Training. Armagh Child Contact Centre held its first contact session on Saturday 5th November 2005, and it is estimated that within its first year the service will benefit approximately 80+ children and 70 parents/relatives.
Armagh Child Contact Centre will service the Armagh, Dungannon, Craigavon, Banbridge and Newry and Mourne areas. Last year, the three Centres in Belfast (Central Belfast, Cloona in Poleglass and Knock) plus the Mid Ulster Child Contact Centre in Cookstown were used by 245 families with 342 children. They facilitated over 3,000 family visits and over 4,000 children’s visits.
