Know Your Rights Leaflet
As you may be aware the Equality Commission is currently running an "Equality
for All" campaign aimed at promoting greater public understanding of the
equality laws in Northern Ireland.
The campaign is also seeking to publicise the role of the Commission in
assisting individuals who believe they may have been discriminated against
across the range of protected grounds (race, sex, religious belief, political
opinion, sexual orientation, age and disability).
As part of this campaign the Commission has produced a short leaflet designed
to raise people's awareness of their equality rights. The leaflet outlines the
grounds that are covered by the anti-discrimination laws and gives examples of
how the law protects people from discrimination in areas of their daily lives.
It also explains how the Commission can help individuals access their rights and
get further information and advice on equality issues generally.
In order to reach as wide an audience as possible, the leaflet is being
distributed to a range of organisations within the voluntary and community
sector as well as to public places such as libraries and GP surgeries.
For further information, please contact our Enquiry Line on 028 90 890 890.
The leaflet can also be downloaded from the Commission's website www.equalityni.org.
I hope that you will find the publication to be of interest and value. If you
would like any further information or advice on equality matters please do not
hesitate to contact us.
