Cancer Choices was formed in 2004 as an independent patient lead self help group with the aims of supporting people living with cancer, particularly those in the rural community.

If you or someone you know has been affected by cancer, then we may be able to support you through your cancer journey.

Cancer Choices can provide:

Support:

  • 24 hour line “listening ear” service
  • Befriending service to patient, carers and family members.

Information:

  • An extensive Information Library
  • Information available on all aspects of cancer including diagnosis treatments as well as emotional, financial and practical support.
  • We will be able to signpost you in the right direction.

Welfare Rights:

  • Links with the local Citizens Advice Bureau to provide you with practical and financial information and support enabling you to access entitlement to benefits.
  • A CAB outreach service is available at our offices

Training Opportunities:

  • In association with Macmillan, we provide patients, carers and family members the opportunity to use their experiences to help others, re-enter the workforce and influence change on cancer services.
  • 6 week Living with Cancer programmes, to develop self management of your illness and get more out of your life.
  • 6 week Carer’s Programme - aims to help carers take more control of their situation.
  • We facilitate the Cancer Support Certificate, an OCN accredited course learning about communication, loss and bereavement, health, cancer awareness and an introduction to counselling.
