With summer holidays in full swing and the weather hopefully improving, we
would like to take this opportunity to remind you about some of the excellent
visitor attractions we have in Armagh City. The Palace Stables Heritage Centre,
The Navan Centre & Fort and Saint Patrick's Trian Visitor Complex all offer
a perfect day out for you and your family.
Saint Patrick's Trian Visitor
Complex has exciting exhibitions; The Armagh Story, detailing
the development of Armagh from pre-Christian times to the present day; Saint
Patrick's Testament, bringing historic documents such as the Book of Armagh to
1ife with touch screen technology; hands on history allows you to use a quill
and ink in the scriptorium to make your own important document; the Land of
Lilliput takes you on a journey with Lemuel Gulliver as he travels the South
Seas and becomes washed up in a land where everyone is 6inches tall.
The Palace Stables Heritage
Centre is a restored Georgian stable block in the Palace
Demesne. The Heritage Centre is located beside the Primate's Palace, formerly
the home of the Church of Ireland Archbishop from 1770 to the 1970's. On your
visit experience 18th Century life through living history guided tours of the
Stable Block, Primate's Chapel and the many features of the Demesne grounds.
The Navan Centre and Fort allows
visitors to experience history and archaeology using interactive touch screen
technology, living history demonstrations, guided walks and activities including
archeo dig boxes, dressing up and ancient artefacts. The Centre is full of
exciting things to do and see - a great day out for all the family.
