Hi, my name is Kathy Barenskie and I work as a Lifeline Community Counsellor
for Contact Youth.
Contact Youth Counselling is Northern Ireland’s leading independent youth
counselling provider working in more than 300 school and community based
settings regionally. Contact Youth were also awarded the Lifeline contract to a
provide a crisis response/suicide prevention helpline and face to face therapy
services to the entire NI population.
Lifeline is available to anyone, of any age who is in crisis or
despair. Lifeline is a freephone service from all mobile and landlines on
0808 808 8000. Lifeline provides crisis response telephone counselling, face to
face counselling close to where you live, in addition to befriending, mentoring
and complimentary therapies.
As part of Lifeline, Contact Youth provides the rapid response counselling
service available to all under 25s who may be actively suicidal or self-harming.
This service is also open to all young people indirectly affected by suicide or
experiencing crisis. All referrals for counselling come through Lifeline
to ensure a swift response, within seven days, in the community. Young
people are offered 6 sessions at a site as close to home as possible.
